“My 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker Renewal Form doesn’t reflect the $30.34 price. How can I still get my Chicago City Vehicle Sticker Senior Discount this year?”

Read more…

If you received a 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker Senior Renewal Form without the Senior Discount applied to the cost of the 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker, you are guaranteed to receive your Senior Discount as outlined by City ordinance (see below).

If the Senior Discount price is printed incorrectly on your renewal form, to ensure you receive your Senior Discount, please choose one of the following options:

  1. To purchase your Chicago City Vehicle Sticker in-person

    Bring a copy of your current, valid Illinois driver’s license to ensure you receive your Senior Discount when you purchase in person. This guarantees you will receive your Senior Discount at a Ward Sale, City Clerk Office location or Department of Finance Office location, or one of more than 350 local community vendors, including currency exchanges.

  2. To purchase your Chicago City Vehicle Sticker via mail

    Seniors should mail in their 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker Renewal Form, a $30.34 check (or $55.34 if also purchasing Annual Residential Zone Parking; or  $71.34 if purchasing Annual Residential Zone Parking AND Chicago Residential Parking Daily Permits), and a copy of the front and back* of their Illinois driver’s license.

    The Senior Discount will be applied when the renewal form is processed.

  3. To purchase your Chicago City Vehicle Sticker online

    1. Scan and copy the front and back* of your current, valid Illinois driver’s license and include your 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker Renewal Reference Number (which can be found at the top of the Renewal Form under the barcode) in an email to Clerk.Senior@CityOfChicago.org.
      Instead of scanning, you may also photograph these items if you wish – but please ensure that all information is legible in order for us to correct the record.
    2. Within 24-48 hours, your data will be updated and you will be eligible to receive your discount when you purchase online with EZ>BUY.

      *Please note, many seniors use a driver’s license that indicates it is expired on the FRONT, but there is usually a sticker on the BACK indicating the real expiration date — please provide documentation with both the FRONT & BACK of your driver’s license.

Per City Ordinance, residents 65 years and older as of December 31, 2014 can purchase one discounted vehicle sticker ($30.34) per year. The following requirements and restrictions apply:

  • Purchaser must be 65 years or older as of December 31, 2014;
  • Purchaser must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license;
  • The vehicle that the Chicago City Vehicle Sticker is being purchased for must be a Passenger or a Large Passenger vehicle (See our Pricing page to view vehicle types);
  • Annual Residential Zone Parking may be added for $25.00 if the purchaser resides in a Residential Parking Zone.

A Chicago City Vehicle Sticker can be purchased at the Senior Discount price online, through the mail or at any in-person sales location. Please use the Store Locator App to find a convenient location.

Antique Vehicle Discount

An Antique Vehicle, or show vehicle, is an automobile that is 25 years or older and used exclusively for shows or exhibitions. To qualify for this, the vehicle must have an Illinois antique motor vehicle (AV) license plate. Please note: antique vehicles used for every-day, non-exhibition purposes do not qualify for this discount and should not use the Antique Vehicle Medallion to demonstrate compliance with the “Wheel Tax.” Vehicles with the Antique Vehicle Medallion cannot park on any City streets without the risk of being ticketed for non-compliance with the “Wheel Tax.” Please note: If your antique vehicle requires street parking, a regular price Chicago City Vehicle Sticker should be purchased.

Charitable Vehicle Discount

No-Fee Charitable City Vehicle Stickers can be issued for vehicles that:

  • Hold 11 or more passengers and
  • Are owned and used by tax-exempt organizations.

To receive a no-fee sticker for such a vehicle, the applicant must provide:

  • A copy of the vehicle registration
  • A state issued tax-exempt letter showing that the organization is a not-for-profit organization

For more information and to purchase, please contact the Office of the City Clerk
– General Licensing Department: (312) 744-6774.

Discounts for Ex-POWs, Disabled Veterans, and Purple Heart Veterans

An Ex-Prisoner of War, Purple-Heart Veteran, or disabled veteran with Illinois XP, PR, or DV plates or a DD-214 with Purple Heart designation may obtain a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker for no fee. The purchaser is required to provide these documents.

Annual Residential Zone Parking may be added for $25.00 if purchaser resides in Residential Parking Zone.

Disabled Persons Discount

As a continuing service to our disabled constituents and in accordance with City Ordinance, the Chicago City Clerk offers a No-Fee City Vehicle Sticker to persons with a qualifying disability.

The Annual Residential Zone Parking feature may be added at no additional cost for those living in a Residential Parking Zone.

Fleet Vehicles

A business with 10 or more vehicles should contact the City Clerk’s Data Services Division at 312-742-9200 for pricing and purchase information.

Please be aware: A business that owns, rents or otherwise controls any property in Chicago must obtain a City Vehicle Sticker for each vehicle used in Chicago. If your company has Chicago and non-Chicago locations, a City Vehicle Sticker is required for every vehicle used in Chicago, even if the vehicle is registered to a non-Chicago address. However, if the vehicle is principally garaged or principally dispatched from a non-Chicago location, and a wheel tax or vehicle tax is required by that non-Chicago location, then your Chicago City Vehicle Sticker will be discounted accordingly.

Governmental and Consulate Vehicles

Chicago City Vehicle Stickers for government vehicles can be obtained at no cost. Consulate vehicles are required to pay full price for Chicago City Vehicle Stickers. Please contact the City Clerk’s Data Services Division at 312-742-9200 for more information regarding consulate or city, county, state or federally owned vehicles.

Demonstration / Dealership Vehicles

Demonstration vehicles and vehicles that are owned by car dealerships are required to display a metal plate in place of the standard City Vehicle Sticker. This plate costs $90.00 and can be obtained from the Data Services Division of the Office of the City Clerk, 312-742-9200.
