City Clerk Mendoza, Illinois Comptroller Topinka introduce Culinary Kids Initiative to promote healthy living
Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Fire & Sky sign on to back citywide program
What: On Thursday, Sept. 12, Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza & Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka partner with some of Chicago’s greatest sports teams to release a cook book and activity guide aimed at teaching grade school children the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Join our Clerk & Comptroller, local schoolchildren, team officials and team mascots for a short media availability followed by a visit to the famous Palmer House Hilton’s kitchens, where Chef Stephen Henry and the kids will prepare a trio of healthy meals from the cook book.
Program sponsors include the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Fire, the Chicago Sky, the Ann & Robert H.Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children (CLOCC), Kristen Alfonsi MS, RD, the Palmer House Hilton Sodexo Leisure Services, Testa Produce and Top Box.
